Sandwiches have been voted one of Britain’s favourite lunches. They can be quick to prepare, healthy and a useful way to use up left-overs. Here are 10 ideas for healthy sandwich fillings…
* Shredded roast chicken (cold) mixed with drained tinned sweetcorn and low-fat mayonnaise.
* Hard boiled egg mashed with low-fat mayonnaise/salad cream, mixed with chopped watercress.
* Roast vegetables with houmous or low-fat cream/cottage cheese.
* Tinned tuna (drained) mixed with chopped parsley and spring onions, drizzled with a little balsamic vinegar.
* Avocado mashed with low-fat cream cheese, mixed with chopped tomato, a little lemon juice and a dash of cayenne pepper.
* Thinly sliced roast beef, low-fat mayonnaise mixed with a little horseradish and lettuce.
* Prawns, low-fat yogurt/mayonnaise mixed with a little tomato puree/ketchup and watercress.
* Thinly sliced ham, grated cheese with lettuce.
* Shredded roast chicken (cold), strips of crispy grilled bacon mixed with mashed avocado.
* Grated cheese mixed with low-fat coleslaw and salad.
Sandwiches can be so versatile; they can be adapted to any taste, budget and dietary requirements. It’s not surprising they’re one of our favourites!

Does anyone have a recipe for organic Tiger bread?
Nothing from Google - by the way, Sainsburys Newton Abbot is forever out of stock on the free range chicken!!
I’ve found a thread about making your own Tiger bread on the Money Saving Expert site. There are a few recipes and people have posted their ‘what happened’ experiences, have a look and good luck!

That’s good news about the free range chicken! I hope you’ve managed to get some yourself though! :)
thanks, will try to get the ingredients, now.
Bye the way, got 2 X fresh small F.R. Chickens at Gerald Davies butchers at Fermoys, the garden centre, nr Ogwell, Newton Abbot the other week for £8. Very nice.
Really getting into the free range, and testing the water with organic veg, now too.
Congratulations to evryone on tipping the balance on the free range chicken scales.
Are you all at Exeter on the 15th April w/e food exhibition?
regards
Evette Lewis
Are you finding FR chicken tastes so much better? There’s no way I could change back to mass produced chicken now!
Sadly we didn’t get to Exeter but I hope a good time was had by all.
:)
Hi - the weather was so bad, we didn’t go either.
We’re converted now to F.R. - no going back now!
