I like to do a bit of surfing through the food news to see what’s going on, looking for interesting articles, new fads, weird and wonderful recipes, events etc and just last night I found an excellent article on food blogging. In The Seattle Times, Providence Cicero, a food writer and restaurant critic, wrote an article called ‘A blog smorgasbord‘, a really interesting insight into food blogging.
Blogging is a rapidly growing phenomenon. People blog about absolutely everything and anything, some blogs become very popular and even achieve a kind of celebrity status. Within the blogosphere, food is a very popular subject for discussion, so naturally bloggers blog about food too.
I have been part of the blogosphere for a very short time, I only began blogging about food a couple of months ago and it’s something I really enjoy doing. But for me, as is the case for many bloggers, it’s not just about writing stuff, it’s about reading other people’s blogs too. In the past few months, gluten-free blogs have been added to my bookmarks every time I happen upon one. I now have quite a collection and visit all on a regular basis. I love trying the recipes, and it’s so nice to know I can still eat delicious food without having to worry about gluten!
So, in honour of gluten-free blogs everywhere, here are 5 of my gluten-free must read blogs…
This was the first gluten-free blog I encountered and was instantly attracted to the whole feel of the blog. I really enjoy the way Karina writes and the recipes are seriously good, I have tried a few of her dishes and have loved all of them. Visually the blog is beautiful too, the photos are truly mouth-watering.
A Gluten-Free Journey
Next I stumbled upon Dianne’s blog, which made me giggle straight away because just like me, Dianne does not bring souvenirs back from holiday, no, she brings food! A lovely, informative blog which I really enjoy reading and must try some recipes soon.
I linked to this blog via Karina’s blogroll and found more delicious gluten-free inspiration. The latest post on pancakes has had me craving them all week! When I was diagnosed gluten-intolerant, one of my first thoughts, was no more bread!!! Rapidly followed by cakes, biscuits! Sheltie’s fabulous recipes have given me gluten-free hope.
A link from Gluten A Go Go transported me to Kelly & Kim’s blog, The Celiac Chicks. But this is more than a blog, it’s an information site for all things celiac. From indexes of bakeries, cookery books, restaurants & products, to organisation and information group links. It really is the cool guide to a hip and healthy celiac lifestyle.
Adventures of a Digestive Diva
Shannon’s blog not only has lovely recipes but also chronicles her experiences since being diagnosed celiac. It’s an open, frank style of writing which I love and content which I very much identify with.
The singular theme which links all the gluten-free blogs I have found, is the desire of the writers to share all the information they can to help make gluten-free living easier and more exciting.
Go make some gluten free brownies! They’re soo good ![]()
