Who are we?
David & Sarah are two food enthusiasts living on the South coast of England just along the road from Brighton – one of the most ‘organic conscious’ communities in Britain.
What is Eating Britain?
Eating Britain is a UK Food website, founded on a desire to know more about food intolerance, healthy eating and ethical practices including organic, free range and local produce. Whilst we research these subjects, we introduce associated recipes, tips and ideas.
What are our aims?
The aim of this site is to inform on the food issues that matter and address the eating habits, lifestyles and desires of the British public.
Food intolerance / allergies and supporting local & organic producers are areas we emphasise on Eating Britain, though this is by no means all that we write about. We are passionate about food in all aspects, from visiting food fairs to participating in Food Blog events; from reviewing ‘tried & tested’ products to discussing current food issues and news items.
Who enjoys Eating Britain?
We regularly receive opinion, comments and appreciation from Celebrity Chefs, large international and small local food producers as well as people who simply enjoy food.
“This is such a wonderful site. I’ve been reading for a few months now but this post really touched me as my wonderful intelligent grandmother was also struck down by Alzheimers. Also I have a very close friend with Crohns. I’m on the phone to the local takeaway as I write.” – Anna from www.yourfiveaday.co.uk (site defunct)
“What a splendid piece you have done on us. Thank you. Let me know if there is anything else we can do” – Mark from www.northumberlandcheese.co.uk
“I’ve been really enjoying your website this afternoon – really interesting reading and lovely recipes!” – Deborah Pyner, co-founder of www.dietfreedom.co.uk
What does Eating Britain get up to?
We regularly attend food events, festivals, conferences, exhibitions and TV shows in addition to interviewing celebrity foodies (such as Jamie Oliver) and producers of food. We use these as opportunities to expand upon the food knowledge, advice and news that we can offer our readers on a daily basis. Some of the places we have been seen include:
- BBC Good Food show
- Totally Tomato Festival (West Dean Gardens)
- Brighton & Hove Food & Drink Festival
- Johnson’s Provisions Open day
- Shoreham-by-sea Farmers’ Market
- Cooking The Books (TV)
- Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall – Talk/lecture – Komedia Brighton
- Bookers Vineyard Tour
- Market Kitchen (TV)
