I chose produce that was sourced locally and/or typically English, totaling 7 items in all. I skipped down to the post office, only to find that my parcel was over 2Kg and was going to cost an EXTORTIONATE amount of money to send. So I resigned myself to having to remove one of the items. I struggled to decide but it came down to physics – the heaviest item had to go. I won’t say what it was as it’s not fair on the recipient to find out what they missed-out on! So, my parcel eventually began it’s journey and soon it should arrive at it’s destination. I can’t wait to hear back from the recipient!
On my arrival home this evening, a package was waiting for me and I have to admit, I danced around like a little girl on Christmas day! My EBBP package had arrived from it’s mystery origin. On opening the package, the first thing I noticed was a delicious fragrant sweet smell, but I’ll get back to that in a minute. Inside the envelope was a lovely card from Kristina of Clivia’s Cuisine, giving a little introduction to each item. Such a lovely thing to do and just as well because I don’t understand Swedish and may have been very puzzled otherwise!
So, what was in the package???
Dried Strawberries – A favourite of Kristina’s.
Handmade pralines – from a small family run business in the mountains.
Dried Funnel Chanterelles – picked and dried by Kristina’s fair hands!
Lemon-dill Spice – for fish dishes, typically Swedish and gave the most fabulous fragrance to the whole package.
Cloudberry Jam – Kristina says this is best served warm on vanilla ice cream.
I am so delighted with my goodies! I can’t wait to try the spices and Cloudberry jam in particular. The chocolates and strawberries are heavenly!! I can’t imagine them lasting much beyond the next couple of days – I’m going to have to strictly ration them!!! I’m going to find something extra special to make with the Chanterelles, they deserve a dish to show them off!
This was my first EBBP and it will not be my last! In fact, I’m already thinking about what I can put in my next parcel! Thank you so much to Johanna for her marvelous organising and to Kristina for the wonderful package.
