Over the past few days the ‘probiotic’ industry has been thrown into chaos with the news that probiotics have been linked to 24 deaths in a Dutch research study.
Industry experts are quite rightly worried that this will cause a consumer knee-jerk reaction, and are intent on confirming that this was a single study into a specific condition - pancreatitis. Research continues into the health benefits of probiotics, which are clearly beneficial to some people.
