london-logo1.JPGThis year’s Good Food show at Olympia (London) was a real treat for the senses! This was my first visit and I had a great time! The atmosphere was buzzing with visitors clearly enjoying all the delights and stall-holders & producers proudly showing off their goodies.

Here’s a small selection of the people I visited during the show…

rude_health.JPGRude Health Organic foods. I bought their Ultimate Muesli. It’s wheat-free and delicious. Their ranges include mueslis and porridges packed with vitamin-giving fruits, nuts and seeds. Rude Health use only the very best 100% organic ingredients and source from sustainable and preferably local suppliers, which as you know, is something I heartily support.

well_hung_meat.JPGThe Well Hung Meat Co. A small organic online butcher, producing award-winning organic meat and endorsed as one of Rick Stein’s Food Hero’s. They are based in Devon but deliver fresh organic meat throughout the country, either as set boxes or a selection of your own preferred cuts. I really liked this stall and the people on it were lovely and very knowledgeable.

garlic_farm_01.JPGThe Garlic Farm. This stall was enveloped in the amazing fragrance of smoked garlic and their range of pickles and relishes was fabulous. My favourite items though, were the Garlic Lovers growing packs which contained bulbs from 6 garlic varieties, growing instructions, recipes and lots of other hints and tips. An excellent Christmas present for the gardening cook.

LEAF - Linking Environment and Farming. LEAF helps farmers improve their environment at the same time as their business performance. I had not heard about this organisation before visiting the show and I’m really interested to learn more about them and what they do. So, keep a look out for a future post dedicated to LEAF.

uluvka_vodka_02.JPGU’luvka Vodka. This was the last stall I visited and I couldn’t help splashing out on a treat purely for me. I bought a bottle of the best vodka I have ever tasted! The award winning U’luvka vodka is from Poland and tastes so smooth and pure, it really is divine. A million miles away from Smirnoff! The presentation was equally luxurious, a beautiful curved bottle accompanied by exquisite ‘leg-less’ glasses. An excellent present for a vodka lover, Christmas or not!! :)

I cannot begin to describe the full variety of produce on offer at the show. There was a fablous variety of food and drink stalls from all over the world, many conducting tastings. Many were selling ready-to-eat dishes, helping to keep the shoppers fuelled and the smells emanating from all around were mouth-watering!

gfs06_01.JPGNot only were there food and drink stalls but gadget and equipment producers too, many holding demonstrations. There were so many bargains to be had and hundreds of present ideas for foodie friends and family. I noticed quite a few companies providing cookery classes and cooking holidays, and organisations including LEAF and the Soil Association were well represented.

I hope this has given you a little taster and encouraged you to visit next year’s Good Food Show. I found the whole experience a lot of fun and very worthwhile. I really did have a good time and even managed to do a little celeb spotting! Mmm Gordon Ramsey! :)
