VegGarden I dream of my own kitchen garden. I would love to be able to grow most of my own fruit and vegetables, and eat them as fresh as possible, straight from the garden! I have dabbled a little in the past, growing my own herbs and chillies but I have a long way to go yet.

This year I’m taking a further step towards the dream by attempting to grow a few more things. I saved some seeds from a butternut squash and a Golden pumpkin, and I sowed them a few weeks ago, not really expecting much to happen.

To my absolute delight, I now have 12 strapping little plants! To be honest, we don’t really have the space for all of them in our garden but I plan to plant out at least half of them and wait & see!

I’ve also got some rocket and basil seedlings growing. I just threw the basil seeds in a pot and they have gone bonkers, so, I think I may need to thin them out a bit! The rocket however does not look too great but I have faith that the spindly little seedlings will become more robust over the coming weeks.

I am thoroughly enjoying watching all these little plants grow, tending them and caring for them. This is a first for me, so if you have any tips for growing squash/pumpkins, rocket or basil, I would love to hear them!

Or if you’re growing your own fruit and veg, let me know. I’d love to know what you’re growing and how you’re getting on.
