JamieAtHome I love Jamie Oliver!!! It’s true I do and I’m very sorry to all the Jamie-haters out there but his latest book Jamie at home is awesome! My copy is part of my Real Food Festival booty! There’s so many good things to say that I hardly know where to begin!

When I get a cookery book, usually I skim through the recipes, looking for dishes I fancy with pretty much a disregard for much else in the contents. But the moment I got home with this book, I had to sit down and read it, properly read it like you would a novel.

To begin with, the dedication to Steve Irwin made me smile, then the nice little chat charmed me with a great start to the rest of the book . Each ingredient section begins with a brief introduction, followed by a host of beautiful recipes and ends with Jamie’s guide on how to grow or choose the best of the ingredient .

The ingredients are ordered according to their season and as I got to the end of Spring, I was planning adventures with asparagus and was genuinely excited to find out what Jamie’s Summer had in store. The next chapter had me dreaming of growing my own onions and potatoes, whilst sipping Strawberry Martinis!

Autumn’s chapter had me drooling over hot smoked salmon with chili salsa and reminded me that my chilli seeds need planting. Great game and mushroom recipes lead you through to the delights of orchard fruits and pickles. Then in Winter when fresh produce is seemingly more sparse, Jamie tells us about leeks, squash and many other winter veg, and not forgetting the pastries and pies!

Finally, at the end of all the loveliness, is a list of Jamie’s favourite veg and fruit varieties, to help the inspired along their way to the Good Life.

I have to be honest, this book is everything I wanted One Perfect Ingredient to be. Jamie at home has over 100 recipes, the information is educational, inspiring and I really do like the fact that it’s seasonally ordered, it helps so much.

I’ll be making one of the recipes from Jamie at home, in the next few weeks, with a GF twist, so keep your eyes peeled :)

You may have guessed by now that I can’t recommend this book enough! Go get it!!
