The Shoreham Farmers Market is set up to support and promote the production of local produce and to promote healthy eating and more environmentally friendly and sustainable food production.
The market offers local producers a retail outlet that enables them to sell direct to the public. The Farmers Market is part of the Adur Town Centres Initiative aimed at helping to improve the vitality, viability and quality of Adur Town Centres.![]()
The Farmers Market takes place on the 2nd Saturday of every month and is situated in East
Street Shoreham by Sea (Closed to traffic during market hours).
This is my local farmer’s market and I visited last month for the first time in about a year. I was astonished and pleasantly surprised at how much the market had grown! In the beginning there were just a handful of stands, but now there are nigh on 30 stands!

There was a vibrant organic fruit & veg stall with a queue half way around the market!
There were various local producers of meats and game (we bought guinea-fowl & rabbits), breads and baked goods (we bought cheese & mushroom ciabatta), sauces, jams, cheeses, relishes and so much more. The variety was fantastic and ALL local. The market was heaving with Saturday morning shoppers, buying their delicious goods to the tunes of an awesome live jazz band.
A thoroughly enjoyable visit, I shall be returning this Saturday.
Do you visit your local farmer’s market? Maybe you don’t know where your nearest one is? It’s a privilege for me to support my local producers and I imagine many of you feel the same. If you want to find out where your nearest farmers market is, check out the National Association Farmers Markets site, which allows you to search for markets in your area. Go on, visit a farmers market this weekend!
